Welcome to In the Hot Seat at The Giles Agency! Over the series we aim to introduce you to the stars that make The Giles Agency the best place to work in Hong Kong and Singapore. We hope you enjoy getting to know a bit more about us.
Introducing…Peter Cowell!

What’s your role at The Giles Agency?
Lead English Editor
How long have you been at the agency?
Four-and-a-half years
What do you like best about working at The Giles Agency?
The people, undoubtedly the people.
Tell us about a project you have worked on that you are proud of:
There have been several great pieces that we’ve worked on across the teams, but I’m particularly proud of the copywriting we did for DBS’s iWealth® App launch as it was a project truly massive in its scope, plus it involved our English writing, Chinese translation and design teams all working together.
Describe the agency in 3 words:
Yes we can!
Who’s your favourite celebrity?
He’s been dead since 1824, but Lord Byron was utterly notorious in his day. Not only was he a hugely influential Romantic poet (and all that went with it), he was also an accomplished boxer, boundless traveller, classical scholar and expert swimmer. In 1810 he swam nearly five kilometres across the Hellespont in Turkey to ape the ancient Greek mythological character Leander – no mean feat. What’s more, he is considered a national hero in Greece for his role as a revolutionary during their struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire. He’s the guy who wrote, “I awoke one morning and found myself famous.” So maybe Byron was the very first celebrity. What a life!
And finally, tell us something we might not know about you:
I have played the violin since I was nine – mainly Scottish West Highland fiddle music.

And that’s it for this month, hopefully you’ve enjoyed getting to know more about Peter. Watch out for the next in the series of In the Hot Seat!
