Navigating post-pandemic Singapore in the digital space

by Soni Bhatnagar

As the COVID-19 pandemic reached its peak in April 2020, the Singapore government introduced ‘circuit-breaker’ measures to stem the local tide. These restrictions are now being lifted in a three-phased approach, allowing business activities to gradually resume.

Phase Two is currently underway. Equipped with face masks and hand sanitiser – and mindful of social distancing – we’re returning to low-risk businesses like hair salons and car workshops. Some health services are resuming, and schools are starting to reopen.

However, things we took for granted pre-pandemic are now a luxury. Travelling, meeting with friends and speaking face to face now bear risks that we’re still getting used to. In Singapore and across the world, everyone is learning new norms for communicating.

Because face-to-face communication is so restricted, digital communication has become more important than ever – especially for businesses looking for ways to stay in touch and build trust with customers.

If you haven’t done so already, now’s the time to re-examine your digital presence to boost engagement and increase SEO.

Content marketing: Content is still king, and timely content can be especially effective. Think about what’s relevant and look at the pain points your customers are facing. Industry insights, special ads, guides and case studies are all examples of valuable content that can help capture attention and add value.

Social media: These platforms offer an excellent opportunity to stand out from the crowd with your brand personality. You can also deliver unique viewpoints in order to build credibility and even media opportunities.
